Siri AI

The headline announcement. Siri AI is a complete rewrite of Siri powered by Apple Intelligence with Google’s Gemini models under the hood. It’s conversational, has personal context understanding, can see what’s on your screen, and comes with a dedicated Siri app. Developer beta today, public beta later this year. Not available in the EU on iOS/iPadOS due to DMA regulations.

I covered this in detail here.

Apple Intelligence Upgrades

Spatial Reframing in Photos lets you adjust the angle and composition of a photo after you’ve taken it. Image Playground can generate photorealistic imagery for wallpapers and Contact Posters. Safari gets smarter page summaries. Messages gets one-tap suggestions for creating notes and reminders.

iOS 27 and macOS Golden Gate

iOS 27 brings the Liquid Glass personalization slider, a rebuilt search experience in Spotlight, Photos, and Mail, and major performance improvements. Apps launch up to 30% faster, photos load up to 70% faster, and AirDrop transfers are up to 80% faster.

MacOS Golden Gate updates the Mac design language with uniform toolbars, edge-to-edge sidebars, and colored sidebar icons. The Liquid Glass slider works on Mac too.

Child Safety

Apple introduced per-category time limits for entertainment, games, and social media, with daily time recommendations based on clinical guidance. New communication safety features require parent approval for new contacts. A dedicated child account setup makes it easy to enable age-appropriate protections.

watchOS 27

A new dynamic app grid shows five Siri-suggested apps. The Smart Stack opens widgets with a tap gesture. A new Find My app consolidates Find Devices, Find Items, and Find People. Cycle Tracking adds perimenopause and menopause support.
