Google AI Studio is growing faster than I think most people realize.
Logan Kilpatrick, Google’s AI Studio product lead, posted the numbers yesterday. AI Studio is now seeing more than 1.2 million apps created every week. The total since late February has crossed 18 million.
That’s not API calls. That’s apps. Built, named, saved. 18 million of them in roughly 15 weeks.
I wrote a guide on building apps with AI Studio back in December, and honestly the platform has only gotten better since then. At the time it felt like a neat prototyping tool. At 1.2 million apps a week, it’s something else entirely.
The rate is accelerating too. Kilpatrick said “more than 1,200,000 apps a week (and growing)” with a 🤯 emoji. The “(and growing)” is the important part. At this clip, AI Studio could hit 100 million apps before the end of the year.
If you haven’t tried it, the barrier is basically zero. It’s free. It runs in a browser. You can build functional apps with natural language prompts. The Gemini Omni guide I just published covered Google’s broader AI ecosystem — this is the same momentum playing out in real time.
