That is why I built Tony’s Takes. This section of the site is distinct from my standard news coverage or performance-based reviews. This is where I step back to look at the bigger picture.
Beyond the Spec Sheet
Most tech coverage focuses on the “what”—what the specs are, what the release date is, and what the price is. My tech op-eds focus on the “so what?” Does it matter that the new iPhone has a slightly faster processor if the OS is still locked down? Is Google’s latest AI model actually useful for a workflow, or is it just a cool demo to pump stock prices? I use these tools daily—coding Python scripts, building WordPress plugins, and managing a smart home—so my analysis comes from actual friction points, not marketing brochures.
A Realistic Look at AI
We are living through the biggest platform shift since the internet itself. Artificial Intelligence is changing how we work, but the hype train is out of control. In my industry analysis, I try to balance the excitement of what models like Gemini and GPT can do with a healthy dose of skepticism about safety, copyright, and utility. I am interested in how AI actually helps us create—whether it is generating consistent characters for video or automating mundane web tasks—not just the “magic” they sell in commercials.

Sometimes, the best tech is less tech. You will occasionally find me writing about retro tech and the digital detox movement here. In an era of constant notifications, looking back at older digital cameras or dumb phones helps us understand what we actually value in our modern devices.
