My girlfriend, Larissa and I went to dinner at Fiesta Mexican Restaurant in Adel, IA last night. It was our third time going in the last two months, and each time the food has been so good that, this time, I knew I finally needed to share my thoughts. So let’s take a look at why this hidden gem out in God’s country is worth your time and hard-earned dinero, shall we?

First up, we were immediately greeted and seated upon our arrival at the restaurant. We got there a little after 6 p.m., and there was no wait for a table. Luckily, it was a Tuesday night. (Taco Tuesday, anyone?!) The place gets pretty packed in the evenings later in the week, especially on Friday and Saturday.

Within seconds, our server greeted us with fresh chips and salsa—their salsa is amazing, by the way. It’s the perfect blend of flavors without any one flavor being too overbearing. The chips themselves were crisp and didn’t taste too salty or greasy.

Our waitress got our drink orders (we went with water because we’re wild AF) and gave us a few minutes to look over the menus. I didn’t need that time, though; I already knew what I was coming for: the steak tacos.

El Dip de Chorizo con Queso está muy bueno!

We started out with an order of their chorizo queso dip. And let me tell you, this stuff is to die for! The dip is a super-tasty mix of finely ground chorizo and delicious queso. It’s not too thick and not too thin—the perfect consistency for dipping. It has a tiny bit of a zing to it, but it’s not overly spicy by any means. It is a bit on the greasy side, but I’m not one to turn my nose up at a perfectly fine dish over a little grease.

Taco game on point!

Larissa ordered one chicken and one steak taco; I got two steak tacos. This is likely where you’ll make fun of me, but I got mine with just steak and cheese. Hear me out, though! The steak is so perfectly done, you don’t need any extra toppings. Unless that’s your thing, of course. I’m just a picky boy. Sue me.

It didn’t take long for the tacos to hit the table. And from there on out, it was pure heaven. The steak, as expected, was succulent and juicy, and there was a generous amount of cheese. What really sets these tacos apart is the quality of the meat. It’s not fatty, dry, or gristly, and whatever seasoning they use is on point! The only downfall here? I probably should have ordered three; they’re just that damn good.

In total, this is our third time here in the last two months, and each time we go, the experience is great. Our servers have always been amazing, and the atmosphere is great. I actually said to Larissa last night while eating our tacos, “This food is so good that it actually puts you in a good mood eating it!” And it absolutely was that good! That’s the kind of meal I love to eat. One that puts a smile on my face.

Downtown Adel is pretty chill, especially at Christmas!

After that, we noticed that the Christmas tree at the courthouse was lit, so naturally we had to stop and get photos of that before we headed home happy and with full bellies.

So, if you’re out in Dallas County and have a hankering for Mexican, look no further than Fiesta Mexican Restaurant. Just remember to go early, and more importantly, be hungry. You definitely won’t be disappointed!

It’s not often I rave about a restaurant, but this is one of those times. Nothing less than a 5-star rating is deserved here. If you haven’t tried Fiesta yet, you better get to it. And you’re welcome.

Happy eating, friends!
